The assistant commissioner Ministry of education and sports, Mr.Odongo Sam has applauded the sitting committee of MOES for a fact finding consultation about Akii-Buaa memorial studio held in Lira district on Monday 19th September 2022.
The chairperson of the sitting committee, HonPraaparu Lillian Obiaale who doubles as the Arua District woman MP led a team of MPs in the committee to hold a meeting with district stakeholders , Leaders and visitation of the site in question.
The meeting was attended by The Ankole Times Correspondent Lira in the district chamber on Monday the 19th September 2022.
This was to see the progress of Akii-Bua memorial stadium ,Lira district.

Preliminary findings indicate that some millions of shillings was used in the construction of the pavilion, ground leveling ,stadium,road opening , drainage work,latrine construction among others.
Odongo Sam said the issue of bureaucracy and attitudes towards stadium construction should be taken in good faith by people who will in future benefit from the stadium,in Liras well aaother parts of the country asfar assports is concerned.
He gave an example of Gulu district where those of Hon.Ojara Maarthin Mapenduzi Mobilized community to build Pece memorial stadium buttherewasl;ots of pressure from the technocrats on one of the officials from Gulu who hanged himself.
Resident city commissioner Lira city Mr.Lawrecne Egole said there is need to expose rots in government projects by some individuals .
‘There is a lot of questions to be answered by a mere explanation about this Akii-Bua memorial stadium ‘Said RDC.
RCC added that we should not encourage regions building their own stadium because the government has the capacity to do it.
In the case of Akii-Bua stadium business community contributed their own money for the construction of the present perimeter wall,You imagine ;wandered RDC.
A total of 1.38 billion was sent for the construction of the Stadium.
H.E Yoweri Museveni pledged for the construction of Akii-Bua stadiumin in 2007.
