Police Collaborates with Mubende Locals in Proactive Measures
In a bid to address security concerns, the Uganda Police, local leaders, and residents of Kalonga in Mubende district engaged in a series of sensitization meetings. The initiative comes in response to an incident of aggravated robbery and murder earlier this month, prompting discussions on uniting law enforcement and the community for effective service delivery.
Regional Police Commander ACP Stephen Onencan Wamala led the first meeting, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between authorities and the community. The gathering included key stakeholders such as the Regional Crime Intelligence team, Mubende Police Station’s Officer in Charge, LC3 representatives, councillors, and influential community leaders. Additionally, a new police station in Kalonga, Mubende district, was officially inaugurated during the meeting.
Expressing gratitude for the community’s proactive support in providing space for the police station, Onencan highlighted the collective initiative’s significance. The collaboration underscores a shared commitment to fostering a safer environment in Kalonga and the broader Mubende District. The police station is expected to play a pivotal role in fulfilling its constitutional mandate to safeguard life and property.
Regional spokesperson Rachael Kawala noted that the meeting reflects the Police’s ongoing dedication to enhancing safety within the region. The residents anticipate that this collaborative initiative will contribute to creating a safer environment, allowing them to conduct their businesses more securely.
