New Deputy Commander Lt Col Frank Tumwesigye Takes Charge at UPDF Contingent Under EACRF

The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces Contingent under the East African Regional Force (EACRF) underwent a change in leadership as Lt Col Frank Tumwesigye took on the role of deputy Contingent Commander. The official handover ceremony occurred at the contingent’s headquarters in Niongera Kiwanja, Rutshuru territory, North Kivu-DRC.

Contingent Commander Colonel Michael Walaka Hyeroba welcomed Lt Col Tumwesigye, emphasizing the importance of teamwork among the troops. He urged the UGACON family to cooperate with the new deputy to collectively achieve the mandated objectives of the EACRF.




Lt Col Frank Tumwesigye expressed gratitude to the UPDF leadership for the new deployment under EACRF. He assured his commitment to working closely with the entire EACRF Forces to fulfill the mandate outlined for the contingent.




In his new role, Lt Col Frank Tumwesigye succeeds Lt Col Henry Kakuru Tukwasibwe as the UGACON Deputy Contingent Commander. The transition marks a significant development within the UPDF’s presence in the EACRF.




The Uganda Contingent, along with the broader EACRF, maintains unwavering commitment to fulfilling its mandate. The primary focus remains on ensuring the safety of civilians and humanitarian aid workers in the region.
