Nkumba University Recognizes Gen Katumba Wamala with Doctor of Letters Degree
In a significant ceremony held at Nkumba University’s main campus in Wakiso district, General Edward Katumba Wamala, the Minister for Works and Transport, was honored with an honorary doctorate. The university bestowed upon him the Doctor of Letters degree in acknowledgment of his exceptional contributions to the community.
The momentous conferral of this prestigious accolade occurred during Nkumba University’s 25th graduation ceremony, which took place on a Thursday. As a pivotal part of this event, General Wamala was presented to the university’s chancellor, where the formal conferment of the Doctor of Letters degree took place, recognizing his substantial influence on the institution.
This honorary degree now grants General Katumba Wamala the right to use the title “Dr.” before his name, a privilege that he expressed profound gratitude for during the award presentation.
In his statement, General Wamala conveyed, “I am truly honored to receive this award and deeply appreciate the recognition and the faith the university has shown in my work and contributions.”
The recommendation for this esteemed recognition came from the university senate during its 107th session this month. The proposal to bestow Gen Katumba with the Doctor of Letters award was passed, thereby granting him all the rights and privileges typically reserved for Nkumba University graduates.
