Renowned politician and former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president, Col. (rtd) Dr. Kiiza Besigye, is set to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee. The move comes in response to activities deemed hostile to the party, specifically grassroots elections conducted by Besigye and other members of the FDC Katonga faction, led by Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.
On Saturday, the Katonga faction organized grassroots elections at the village level, intending to elect leaders who would subsequently represent at parish, district, and constituency levels, up to the National Executive Committee.
However, the FDC headquarters in Najanankumbi, Kampala, disapproved of these elections, asserting that the party had already completed the election process at all levels in October. Party deputy president for the Eastern region, Margret Wokuli Madanda, denounced the ongoing activities as a scam. She warned that those involved would face the party’s disciplinary measures, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.
