On 12 December, 16 group farmers from 12 sub-counties and 3 town councils in Omoro District received brand new handheld tractors and one new big 90 horsepower tractor donated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Industry, and Fisheries.
The handheld tractors were donated to the 15 farmer groups registered in Omoro District. Each farmer group received one new handheld tractor with 15 horsepower, including one new big 90 horsepower tractor given to the Father and Mother Union of St. Peter’s Church of Uganda in Bobi under Omoro Archdeaconry.
The donation of the tractors followed the request made by NRM MPs from northern Uganda to President Yoweri Museveni during their last month’s visit to Kyankwanzi at one of their periodical retreats.
Hon. Catherine Lamwaka, the area woman MP for Omoro District, says the purpose of the tractor donation is to ultimately boost production, leading to socio-economic transformation in the community. This initiative is expected to benefit all the districts in northern Uganda.
