The Ministry of Education and Sports has announced the deployment of 1919 secondary school teachers who were recruited between July 2022 and 2023. These teachers were previously on a waiting list due to financial challenges but will now replace retired educators.
In a statement released on Monday, Ms Ketty Lamaro, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, informed the newly appointed teachers to collect their appointment letters from the Ministry’s headquarters on Embassy House, 4th floor, Registry Room 1, starting December 20, 2023. Teachers must bring their National Identity Cards and notification letters for verification.
The Ministry emphasized that the deployment process would adhere to the Uganda Public Service Standing Orders 2021. New recruits are required to follow instructions issued from January 8, 2024, after presenting their letter of acceptance, a public service medical examination form endorsed by a government medical officer, IPPS Data Collection Form, and Education Service Commission form.
Ms Lamaro cautioned teachers about potential fraud and advised them to be vigilant against individuals falsely claiming to be ministry officials. Mr Dennis Mugimba, the Ministry of Education and Sports spokesperson, reiterated that the new teachers are not filling new positions but are replacing retired educators.
