President Yoweri Museveni engaged in discussions with a delegation from Azerbaijan, led by special envoy and deputy minister of foreign affairs, Yalchin Rafiyev. The meeting, held at State House Entebbe, focused on briefing President Museveni about the upcoming Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit.
Azerbaijan’s delegation informed President Museveni about the preparations for the 19th NAM-Heads of State and Government Summit, scheduled to take place in Uganda from January 15 to 20, 2024. This summit, hosting representatives from 120 member states, will witness President Museveni assuming leadership from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, positioning Uganda at the helm of the second-largest group of countries globally, after the United Nations (UN).
The meeting included the presence of Uganda’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, Adonia Ayebare, along with other officials.
