Police spokesperson for North Kyoga Region, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, has issued a statement on a serious accident in Kole district.
The territorial police in Kole district are investigating the circumstances under which a single accident involving the LCV Chairman of Kole District Local Government, Andrew Awany, occurred.
It is alleged that the motor vehicle, with registration number LG0061 058, a Toyota Mazda BT-50 4*4 Silver in color, driven by Hon. Awany Andrew Moses, was traveling from Lira City to Kole District. Upon reaching the area of Apii Trading Centre along the Lira-Kamdini highway, the vehicle lost control, and overturned instantly.
According to SP Patrick Okema, the incident occurred on December 23, 2023, at around 8:00 hours. The police were informed and visited the scene, led by traffic officers from Kole Police Station.
The victim was rushed to an unidentified health facility for first aid, and the motor vehicle was towed to Lira City West Division Police Station pending IOV inspection.
The victim, Chairman Awany Andrew, is out of danger and is being attended to by medical professionals. More details will be shared later as the investigation is ongoing.
