The Director General of the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), Robert Mukiza, has confirmed the advancement of the Kisoro Industrial Park project. The Kisoro district authorities allocated 620 acres of Kibaya land for the development of the industrial park on August 18th, 2021.

Mukiza expressed gratitude during the 2023 Isangane Festival, an annual celebration of Bafumbira culture. As the chief guest at the event, he assured the community that UIA has secured a land title, conducted a feasibility study, and marked the borders. The next phase involves discussions on financing the park’s construction, emphasizing his commitment to fulfilling President Museveni’s vision for the region’s economic development.

The Isangane Festival, organized by the Ubuntu Bafumbira United Association (UBUA), supports Maternal Health Care in Kisoro district. Mukiza commended the Ubuntu leadership for fostering unity among Bafumbira worldwide, contributing to their sense of identity and connection to their homeland.

President Museveni approved the establishment of 25 industrial parks nationwide in May 2021. With 15 parks established in the last six years, the government allocated 130 Billion Shillings in October 2019 for the creation of 20 zonal industrial parks. The parks align with the national industrial agenda to promote industrialization across all sub-regions in the country.
