UNHCR Donates 246M UGX Medical Equipment to Itula Health Centre III in Obongi District

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has donated modern medical equipment valued at over 246 million shillings to Itula Health Centre III in Itula sub-county, Obongi district.

The medical equipment comprises a variety of state-of-the-art facilities, including theatre equipment, X-ray machines, anesthetic machines, scanners, and neonatal machines, among others. The official handover ceremony took place on Saturday at Itula Health Centre III in Obongi district.




Shekimweri Muhamed, the head of UNHCR sub-office in Moyo district, presented the modern equipment to Mr. Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Obongi. Subsequently, the Obongi RDC commissioned the medical equipment and handed them over to the Obongi district leadership. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Lokoroi Charles, Secretary for Health Hon. Azubu Michael, and Acting District Health Officer Dominic Lomerechu at Itula Health Centre III.




Expressing gratitude, the head of the UNHCR office thanked President Yoweri Museveni for his open-door policy for refugees. He affirmed UNHCR’s commitment to supporting the NRM government in ensuring a good life for both Ugandans and refugees.




RDC Hashaka Mpimbasa commended Mr. Shekimweri for his hard work and expressed gratitude to UNHCR for being a reliable partner in the development of Uganda, particularly in Obongi district. The donation of the modern medical equipment is expected to significantly enhance healthcare services at Itula Health Centre III.
