The offices of RDC Obongi, DISO, and OPM have taken quick action to monitor all eight projects worth over 10 billion shillings under the Development Response to Displacement Impact Project (DRDIP), which are currently behind schedule.
The team, consisting of Obongi RDC Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, the new DISO Dennis Elyebu, and OPM engineering assistant Esaku Emmanuel, monitored the project for the construction of an isolation ward and staff house worth over 848 million shillings on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. During the visit, they interacted with the chairperson CPMC Doku Swaib and the site engineer Nanteza Joselyn to discuss the progress of the work. However, their findings revealed that the project is eight (8) months behind schedule. The team warned the contractor, Paribus Investments LTD, to complete the work by January 31, 2024, or face stern action.
At Kochi bridge in Itula sub-county, the team was impressed with the work done so far but urged the contractor Shataman, who was supposed to complete the project by December 31, 2023, to increase speed so that the works are finished by the end of February 2024, following the rescheduled timeline.
The project, valued at over 2.4 billion shillings, aims to connect Obongi district to Yumbe district through Kochi Boma village once completed.
