Ugandans, particularly from the MK Movement, have called for the immediate resignation of Internal Affairs Minister Gen Kahinda Otafiire, accusing him of incompetence. The demand comes in the wake of his dismissal of SPA/O Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s concerns about the attempted murder of Pastor Aloysius Bugingo.

In a statement released on Sunday afternoon, the MK Movement labeled Otafiire a ‘joker’ and criticized him for undermining Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s inquiries into the assailants of his supporters. Gen Muhoozi had raised questions about the identity of the attackers and urged investigators to act promptly. He also questioned why the death of Isma Ichuli had not been successfully investigated.

However, in response, Otafiire, during an interview with local media, asserted that Gen Muhoozi wasn’t in charge of investigations and was expressing his personal opinion rather than acting as a professional investigator.

The MK Movement perceives Otafiire’s response as dismissive and regards him as a ‘joke’ occupying an office without fulfilling his duties. They challenge Otafiire to prove Gen Muhoozi wrong by taking concrete steps to identify and prosecute the culprits responsible for the attacks.

“Our supporters are being killed, and he is idly occupying office without any action,” the MK team expressed.

In addition to demanding Otafiire’s resignation, the MK Movement has called on President Museveni to dismiss Otafiire due to what they perceive as incompetence in handling the security concerns raised by Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
