India has contributed to Uganda’s preparations for the upcoming Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit by donating essential equipment in a gesture of goodwill. The Indian External Affairs Minister, during his visit in April 2023, expressed solidarity with Uganda by offering support in the form of 10 tractors and 5 ambulances.

The handover ceremony took place on January 9, where Foreign Affairs Minister Mr. Jeje Odongo and Indian High Commissioner Sing Rawat were present, along with other officials. The donated equipment, including 10 executive buses, is expected to play a crucial role in facilitating the smooth operations of the NAM Summit in Kampala.

This generous contribution aligns with India’s commitment to fostering strong diplomatic ties with Uganda and supporting initiatives that contribute to the well-being of the nation. The tractors provided by India are likely to enhance agricultural activities, while the ambulances contribute to the improvement of healthcare services in the region.

As Uganda prepares to host the NAM Summit, the support from India serves as a testament to the collaboration between the two nations. The NAM Summit is a significant diplomatic event that brings together member countries to discuss and address global issues, promoting a non-aligned stance in international relations.

The donation reflects India’s proactive engagement in strengthening bilateral relations with Uganda and its commitment to supporting the country’s developmental goals. The equipment provided is expected to have a positive impact on various sectors, contributing to Uganda’s overall progress.
