The Ministry of Education has rescheduled the briefing and release dates for the 2023 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). Initially set for January 17 and 18, 2024, these dates were adjusted due to the ongoing Non-Aligned Movement Summit. As per the latest memo from the Office of the Minister of Education and Sports, UNEB will now brief the public on the PLE results on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, with the official release scheduled for Thursday, January 25, 2024. Both events will take place at 11:00 am at the State House Nakasero in Kampala.
Signed by Irene Kauma, the Undersecretary/Senior Private Secretary to the First Lady of Uganda, the memo provides crucial details about the upcoming events. The move aims to avoid any conflict with the ongoing summit and ensures a smoother release process.
According to UNEB (Uganda National Examinations Board), a substantial 749,347 candidates participated in the PLE examination for the year 2023. The gender distribution reveals that females accounted for 52% of the total, while males made up the remaining 48%. This highlights a balanced participation between both genders in the examination.
The examinations were conducted across 14,442 PLE examination centers. Of these, 79% were UPE (Universal Primary Education) centers, emphasizing the widespread reach of primary education. The remaining 21% represented non-UPE schools, showcasing a diverse range of educational institutions involved in the examination process.
