Obongi, Uganda: The Government of Canada, through the Global Affairs of Canada, has provided Uganda with over 13.5 billion shillings to enhance equitable and inclusive education for refugees and host community children and youths, particularly focusing on girls and adolescent girls. This was disclosed on Thursday during a project meeting organized by War Child Canada and Oxfam Uganda at Obongi district headquarters.
The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) commended the two NGOs for their commendable work in the district of Obongi.
In a related development, District Internal Security Officer (DISO) Obongi Daniel Elyebu, OPM Engineering Assistant Esaku Emmanuel, and RDC Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka are continuing to monitor all the DRDIP projects that are behind schedule to ensure they are completed within the extended period and to ensure the quality of work done as expected.
In Gimara sub-county, the team monitored the Obongi Town Council landfill project, which is over 90% complete but identified cracks in the terazzo. They directed Bygone Enterprises, the contractor, to redo the work within a one-week period. The project, which is behind schedule, is worth about 600 million shillings.
