A Kenyan man in Fort Worth, Texas, has been charged with murder after allegedly attacking a delivery driver with firewood on January 13 around 8:30 pm, according to the police.
Police say 51-year-old Scotty Jackson delivered firewood to a residence, and as he and the homeowner were unloading the firewood from his U-Haul truck, a naked 27-year-old Christantus Omondi approached them and asked the two men to leave his property.
“This naked man is three inches from my face, holding a key up to me, yelling at me that I was on his property. He never wants to see me again. I should leave,” the homeowner told Fox 4 News. “Scott then replied, ‘No, this is his property and his house. Just let us unload firewood because it’s cold outside.'”
Omondi pushed the homeowner, then struck Jackson with a piece of wood. Omondi chased the homeowner back inside his house before going back over to Jackson and beating him to death with the firewood. He then went to an Airbnb on the same street, where he is said to have been renting a room.
A woman who was renting a different Airbnb room in the same building as Omondi told police that after the attack on Jackson, Omondi tried to force his way into her room, yelling, “I’ll beat your a–. I’m going to f— you up.”
A still-naked Omondi was trying to force his way into the woman’s room when police arrived at the scene, according to the affidavit. Police say he was non-compliant and aggressive with them, and that they had to deploy a taser to detain him. He was taken to JPS Hospital for evaluation after his arrest.
Omondi has been charged with murder, aggravated assault of a security officer, and obstruction. He is being held in the Tarrant County Corrections Center on a $312,000 bond.
