The Uganda Revenue Authority’s (URA) tax education team ventured into downtown Kampala (Kikuubo) on Tuesday as part of the Central Business District Tax Awareness Campaign (CBDTAC). The primary focus of the campaign was to enlighten the public, especially traders, about taxation, with a particular emphasis on the Electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing Solution (EFRIS) system designed to address business transaction challenges.
Led by Hafsah Seguya Nabachwa, the URA team set up camp in the heart of the city, attracting a substantial audience eager to learn about the intricacies of taxation. Seguya and her team patiently addressed numerous questions, providing a comprehensive overview of the EFRIS system.
Seguya clarified, “EFRIS system is not a tax. It is merely a system designed to simplify your work, making transactions almost seamless by facilitating the sending and receiving of e-receipts and invoices.”
The tax expert emphasized that managing EFRIS transactions does not demand sophisticated technology, stating that individuals can utilize their phones to send transactions and receive electronic receipts and invoices.
She added, “EFRIS is essential for Value Added Tax (VAT) registered taxpayers, while other taxpayers have the choice of adopting the platform. However, we strongly encourage them to do so due to its remarkable benefits.”
