The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) is set to officially release the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) 2023/2024 results today, Thursday, February 15th, 2024, at the State Lodge in Nakasero starting at 11:00 am.
A close source within UNEB revealed to The Ankole Times that the delay in releasing the UCE results for 2023 was due to various unavoidable circumstances, including arranging a meeting with the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataha Museveni, and data entry at UNEB.
Furthermore, UNEB has been preparing to release the results amidst concerns over delays from parents, guardians, teachers, and candidates. With 364,421 candidates registered for the UCE 2023 examinations, UNEB has faced challenges in balancing stakeholder engagements and ensuring the timely release of results.
While the marking of examination papers and grading of candidates was completed weeks ago, UNEB cannot release the UCE 2023 results without briefing the First Lady, Janet Museveni, who serves as the Minister of Education and Sports. This process has proven challenging, similar to the delays experienced with the PLE 2023 results.
Additionally, UNEB has released a tentative program for a special transition exam for S4 repeaters as Uganda transitions to the competence-based assessment under the new lower secondary school curriculum.
