Dr. Lalam Grace Anna Atine, the NRM-independent aspirant, has met with the Dokolo Media Fraternity. Her PA stated that the agenda of the meeting was to engage with members of the media regardless of their field.
Meanwhile, Lalam Otengoro Olang, from Adok Parish, Agolowelo village, studied at Ngetta NTC and taught at Faith Secondary School, Bishop Tarantino, among others. She pursued a degree course in Public Administration and holds a Ph.D. in Humanities.
She expressed her intention to support the media and facilitate their progress. “I am not the type of leader who wants your life to remain the same,” she emphasized. She urged the media not to succumb to manipulation and asked for forgiveness in case she unintentionally offended anyone.
“I don’t want to bribe you; I just want a fair ground,” she added. Lalam stressed that only one person will change Dokolo at the appropriate time, which she believes God will provide.
She expressed her love and respect for the media in their various capacities and encouraged them to form an association. She pledged to lobby for their support, including assisting journalists who wish to return to school.
“I have come to touch the life of an individual,” she remarked. “As a media person, you will receive credit from a fellow media personnel.”
She assured the media that she would continue to work with them regardless of the election outcome, emphasizing that her manifesto aligns with the needs of the villagers.
Moses Obwona Ogwal, the acting chairperson of the Dokolo Media Association, criticized MPs who neglect the media after gaining power, stating that they used the media as a ladder to climb.
One MP allegedly dismissed a media personnel’s request for assistance, suggesting they focus on trivial matters. Despite the presence of SACCOs for Dokolo FM and LBS, they remain unsupported.
A reporter, speaking anonymously, highlighted the mistreatment faced by the media in various ways. Isaac Ejao, a media personnel from Otuboi, commended Dr. Lalam for organizing the meeting, noting it as the first of its kind. He expressed disappointment in leaders who fail to fulfill promises, such as providing motorcycles.
Dr. Lalam was urged not to monopolize media influence or ownership, as the media’s impartiality and power are crucial.
The media in Dokolo accused the NRM government of neglecting their needs.
