At least seven candidates have successfully been nominated for the Dokolo MP By-election. Adongo Janet Elau (NRM flag bearer), Harriet Ageno Nenidiro (NUP), Dr. Lalam Grace Annah Atine (independent), Dr. Rosemary Alwoch Ogwal (FDC), Aguti Sarah Nyangkori (UPC), and an independent candidate called Akullu Esther Obot were all nominated on March 11, 2024, for the Dokolo Woman MP by-election.

On the second day of nominations, only one candidate, Arao Rebecca, was nominated to contest in the forthcoming election. The bye-election is being held due to the passing of MP Cecilia Atim Ogwal, creating a vacancy.

Erikwaine Ngobi, the Electoral Commission registrar, was occupied with nominating the seven candidates over the two days. Arao Rebecca was nominated in the afternoon of March 12, 2024, at the Electoral Commission office in Dokolo Town Council as per the schedule.

Jackson Egenyi, the regional election administrator for Lango sub-region, personally supervised the nomination exercise.

The Ankole Times newspaper will provide ongoing coverage of the Dokolo Woman MP by-election, with official campaigning set to begin on March 14, 2024.
