Nile Breweries Ltd (NBL) has been bestowed with the prestigious Silver Award at the 2023/24 Employer of the Year (EYA) Awards, organized by the Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE) for its steadfast commitment to employee welfare and organizational excellence.
The glittering ceremony, held at Speke Resort Munyonyo under the theme “Employer competitiveness post-COVID,” aimed to assess employer competitiveness in the wake of the global pandemic across various domains, including managerial processes, resource management, and overall impact on company performance.
Martha Nalubega, NBL’s Country People Lead, expressed elation at the company’s achievement, emphasizing its unwavering dedication to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and empowering work culture. She attributed the win to NBL’s robust investment in employee development, continuous training initiatives, competitive benefits, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
As NBL basks in the glory of this accolade, Nalubega reiterated the company’s pledge to remain the employer of choice in Uganda, steering towards a future filled with success and prosperity. She commended Managing Director Adu Rando for his strategic leadership and guidance, underscoring his instrumental role in NBL’s journey towards excellence.
The EYA ceremony also celebrated other industry leaders, with MTN Uganda clinching the prestigious Gold award. Notable winners included Quality Chemical-Cipla in the Disability Inclusion category, NUPIDU for Best Non-Governmental Organization, and Carrefour for the Best Service Sector Award.
Douglas Opio, CEO of FUE, emphasized the awards’ significance in recognizing decent work and promoting best business practices, while Prof. Julius Kikooma, Lead Consultant of the survey, highlighted the comprehensive nature of the evaluation, encompassing aspects such as quality and performance, innovation, risk and compliance, customer experience, and workplace culture.
The event, graced by Luc Pirson, Head of Cooperation at the Embassy of Belgium, underscored the vital role of the Employer of the Year awards in fostering equitable societies and celebrating organizational excellence across diverse sectors. As NBL revels in its well-deserved recognition, the silver award stands as a testament to its unwavering commitment to nurturing a thriving workplace environment for all employees.
