Balaam Barugahare Ateeny, in a recent statement, urged politicians to refrain from engaging in smear campaigns and focus on service delivery and the fight against corruption.

He directed this message particularly to LOP Hon Joel Ssenyonyi, addressing claims made during a press conference regarding travel allowances.

During the press conference, Hon Joel Ssenyonyi alleged that he was paid for more days of travel than he actually intended, emphasizing that he only required one day to visit his colleague, Hon Ssegirinya, who is hospitalized across the border in Kenya.

Mr Balaam questioned the authenticity of the request for permission to travel and facilitation for just one day, contrary to what Hon Joel Ssenyonyi signed for (Five days), prompting a call for politicians to prioritize addressing issues related to service delivery and corruption within government institutions.

Drawing attention to the example set by Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Balaam Barugahare Ateenyi highlighted the importance of action oriented leadership over excessive rhetoric. He encouraged politicians to emulate Gen Muhoozi’s approach, characterized by minimal talk and a focus on tangible results.

Balaam Barugahare Ateenyi is the current vice chairperson for the Western Region for the newly launched Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).

He claims politicians need to shift their focus from divisive tactics to constructive engagement in matters of governance.

In the post published on X, he clearly shows that the opposition leader himself signed for excess allowances for his travel expenditure.

By advocating for a stronger emphasis on service delivery and the fight against corruption, he emphasizes the importance of accountability and transparency in government operations.

The call to prioritize service delivery aligns with broader efforts to enhance governance effectiveness and foster public trust in political leadership.

Balaam Barugahare Ateeny’s stance emphasizes the significance of ethical conduct and responsible governance practices in shaping a better future for the nation.
