Earlier today, the Appointments Committee of Parliament undertook the crucial task of vetting individuals nominated by H.E. Kaguta Museveni to serve in the Cabinet. This significant step in the governance process is guided by parliamentary rules, with the committee’s findings to be conveyed to the appointing authority.
Among those successfully vetted was Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, the National Vice Chair of the Patriotic League (Western Region) and Managing Director of Radio777. Ateenyi shared the news of his successful vetting as the Minister of State for Gender, Labour, and Social Development (Youth and Children Affairs) via a post on social media platform X. He expressed gratitude to Speaker Rt. Hon. Anitah Among and all members of the Committee for their professional conduct throughout the exercise.
Ateenyi reiterated his commitment to the mission of enhancing the social and economic well-being of Ugandan youth, as well as improving the health conditions of children across the country. Meanwhile, Speaker Among provided an overview of the vetting process on social media platform X, highlighting the committee’s efficiency. The entire process, conducted behind closed doors, was completed expeditiously, with the vetting of six new ministers concluded in under three hours.
