The Right Honorable Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja, conveyed her gratitude to President Yoweri Museveni for her reappointment as Premier in the recent cabinet reshuffle. Speaking at the Palm Sunday Mass held at Our Lady of Lourdes Bujumbura Cathedral in Hoima City, she expressed her commitment to serving all Ugandans.
Attending the Mass alongside her was Honorable Mary Grace Mugasa, who retained her position as the Minister of State for Public Service. The event was presided over by the Bishop of Hoima Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Bishop Vincent Kirabo Amooti.
During her address, Nabbanja encouraged Ugandans to support government initiatives, particularly the Parish Development Model (PDM). This model aims to transition a significant portion of Ugandan households from subsistence farming to participation in the monetary economy, thereby fostering overall economic growth.
Highlighting the significance of inclusive development, Nabbanja underscored that the Parish Development Model aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Agenda for 2030, which emphasizes leaving no one behind.
Bishop Kirabo commended President Museveni for the government’s consistent support and collaboration with the Church. He urged the Prime Minister to convey their gratitude to the President for his ongoing assistance in the Church’s developmental endeavors.
Further, the Bishop acknowledged the vital role women play in the nation’s progress. Nabbanja herself contributed 50 million shillings towards the construction of the Hoima Women and Children Specialized Hospital, a project undertaken by the Catholic Church.
