A tragic incident occurred at Kiira College Butiki in Jinja City Northern Division, where 17-year-old student Joshua Lukonda was found unconscious after falling from a high bunk bed in the dormitory.

According to James Mubi, the police spokesperson for the Kiira region, the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning.

Mubi explained that Lukonda was discovered with severe head injuries at around 1:50 a.m. and was rushed to the school’s infirmary for medical attention.

Reports indicate that the student had been on the top bunk bed for about three hours before he reportedly fell onto the concrete floor and was found unconscious. Despite being given painkillers and placed on a stretcher, he remained unresponsive.

Upon the principal’s arrival, Moses Ssemwanga, it was observed that when they attempted to wake Lukonda, he did not respond, prompting them to rush him to the infirmary. Unfortunately, Lukonda passed away before reaching the hospital. His body was taken to Buwongo Health Center in Namutumba District for further examination.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances leading up to Lukonda’s fall and subsequent death. They have also noted that Lukonda’s body will undergo a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
