Sad news has reached us today about the passing of Humphrey Mayanja, the eldest brother of renowned Ugandan singer Joseph Chameleone. Humphrey lost his battle with cancer, leaving behind a somber atmosphere among the Mayanja family.
Unlike his famous brothers, Humphrey didn’t pursue a career in music. However, he was always there to support and encourage his siblings’ talents.
Last year, Humphrey began experiencing stomach problems, which later turned out to be symptoms of cancer. He sought treatment in the United States but unfortunately succumbed to the illness despite undergoing cancer treatment.
Tragically, Humphrey’s passing comes just days after the family marked the anniversary of another heartbreaking loss. AK 47, another one of the Mayanja siblings, passed away on March 16, 2015. Speaking at the commemoration of AK 47’s ninth anniversary, the grief-stricken parents, Mzee Gerald Mayanja and Prossy Mayanja, expressed their distress over Humphrey’s deteriorating health.
“Mzee Mayanja shared on the 17th of this month that Humphrey’s condition was critical. He emphasized the family’s collective prayers for his recovery, noting the challenges of balancing care for Humphrey with the commemoration of AK 47’s passing.
Humphrey’s siblings include the famous singer Joseph Mayanja, popularly known as Jose Chameleone, as well as Pius Mayanja, also known as Palasso, and Douglas Mayanja, known as Weasel Manizo. The family mourns the loss of their eldest brother and continues to cherish his memory amidst the pain of his absence.
