Hon. Sarah Mateeke Receives Warm Welcome in Kisoro After Ministerial Appointment

Hundreds of residents from Kisoro welcomed home Honorable Sarah Mateeke Nyirabashitsi on April 4th following her recent appointment as Minister of State for Defence and Veteran Affairs (Defence).

The enthusiastic residents gathered at Kanaba checkpoint yesterday and accompanied the minister in a procession up to Mayor’s Garden in Kisoro municipality, where they held a rally celebrating the reappointment of Sarah Mateeke as a minister.

Honorable Sarah Mateeke, who has been a Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, was recently reappointed as Minister of State for Defence and Veteran Affairs (Defence).

Addressing residents at the rally in Mayor’s Garden, Honorable Sarah Mateeke praised voters for trusting her as an area Member of Parliament, thus capturing the eye of the President, who later appointed her as a minister. She rallied leaders in Kisoro to work together in fulfilling the NRM manifesto.

Speaking at the same function, Dr. Philmon Mateeke challenged his daughter, Honorable Minister Sarah Nyirabashitsi Mateeke, to continue working hard so that she is not dropped by the appointing authority and voters.

The veteran politician emphasized that the NRM party is still solid in Kisoro and asked supporters to guard the party from infiltrators.

The Kisoro LCV chairperson, Abel Bizimana, thanked His Excellency President Museveni for reappointing Honorable Minister Sarah Mateeke. He said that he is optimistic that the next general elections in the district will be peaceful following the appointment of Sarah Mateeke as the Minister of State for Defence and Veteran Affairs (Defence).

Others who praised the NRM government for considering the district for such significant portfolios are Kisoro district NRM vice chairperson Ramathan Ndikuyeze and the district chairperson for Uganda Chambers of Commerce and Industries, Byensi Expedito.
