Lango Cultural Shift: Transition Roadmap Unveiled for Won Nyaci-Elect’s November Inauguration

Lira, Uganda –  All is now set for the new Won Nyaci-elect of the Lango Cultural Foundation, Dr. Eng. Moses Michael Odongo Okune, to officially assume office on November 2, 2024. Notably, a number of ongoing arrangements are in place to ensure that several events are accomplished by the new team headed by the current speaker (Won Tok), Willy Omodo Omodo, before November 2, 2024.

According to the roadmap, read by Hon. MP Maxwell Akora of Maruzi County, who alsXo serves as the Oyima clan head, before the council of clan members under the Lango Cultural Foundation at Senior Quarters ‘B’, key on the roadmap is the visiting of the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, and the visits to H.E the President of the Republic of Uganda, the Vice President, and the Prime Minister of Uganda by His Highness Dr. Eng. Moses Odongo Okune, the Won Nyaci-elect.




Akora outlined, among others, the formal visit of the Won Nyaci-elect to the outgoing Won Nyaci Yosam Odur Ebii. The visit shall take place at Teboke in May 2024, and the team shall be led by Mr. Okello Oyoo. Government Chief Whip Hon. Denis Hamson Obua, the Ajuri County MP, is expected to be a key figure in the whole transition process.




While addressing the subject recently on March 1, 2024, from Akii-Bua Stadium, Dr. Eng. Okune appealed for reconciliation and unity in the Lango Cultural Foundation as he won the election overwhelmingly. Several clan heads have rallied behind the new Won Nyaci-elect Dr. Eng. Moses Odongo Okune to lead the Lango Kingdom without fear or favor because he is competent and loved in the entire Lango sub-region and even among the Lango community living in the diaspora.




One of the clan chiefs who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity said over 40,000 people are expected in November to grace the occasion of the installation of the new Won Nyaci Dr. Eng. Michael Odongo Okune. He urged members of the Lango Cultural Foundation to be supportive of the new team headed by Okune, as more development is expected during his tenure of office.
