Kole, Uganda – Mr. Sam Blick Okello, a 42-year-old son of Humphreys Munu and an enrolled advocate of the High Court of Uganda and subordinate courts, has joined the race for Kole North constituency to remove Hon. Opio Acuti from Parliament in the 2026 general election. He addressed a section of the press in an interview from Kole district headquarters on Monday morning about his bid to contest as an MP for Kole North in 2026, especially to unseat Hon. MP Acuti.
“I am an aspiring MP candidate for Kole North County come 2026 under the UPC ticket,” echoed Counsel Sam. He added that he is not new to political scenes, stating that he has been involved in Kole North politics since 2016.
Why the move? It’s very obvious that the people of Kole North are not receiving good services on the ground. There is poor road network, and people are sharing water with animals. Additionally, some of the MPs in the area are only heard on radio stations, but voters have never seen some of them physically on the ground.
Education is very poor in Kole North, with the recent release of PLE results showing Kole North ranking almost last in the whole of the Lango sub-region. Elaborating on healthcare, he described it as the worst. Some people in Kole leadership brought an ambulance, but voters have to pay for a patient to be taken to the hospital. Moreover, there are no proper medicines in hospitals like Aboke HC IV, among others.
Counsel Sam Blick narrated that on the issue of crop insurance, it is being handled selectively in Kole by some leaders, leaving out other sub-counties like Aboke and Okwerodot unattended to.
In conclusion, Sam Blick noted that he has made quite a number of community contributions. “I have built a travelers’ shade at Corner Molem-Aboke, contributed to the youth by donating sports uniforms, donated to churches, repaired boreholes like in Omer-Gweno, and many other places,” said Sam. He added that in many places, people are sharing water with animals, there are extremely poor roads, and once elected to parliament, the provision of clean water shall be among his key mandates and manifesto.
