Uganda is gearing up for its National Population and Housing Census in 2024. The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has postponed the training for census enumerators and parish supervisors to tomorrow, April 30th.
According to a letter by UBOS Executive Director/Census Commissioner Chris N. Mukiza, the training will run for 9 days, wrapping up on May 8th, 2024.
Those conducting the training – District Census Officers, Assistant District Census Officers, District IT officers and District Technical officers – themselves underwent a comprehensive 9-day training program.
Last week, UBOS began distributing census materials to all districts. These materials include tablets, t-shirts, bags, and enumeration aprons.
The National Population and Housing Census 2024 will be conducted from May 10th to May 19th under the theme “It Matters to be Counted!” This critical activity, launched by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on December 12th, 2023, follows the previous census conducted a decade ago in 2014.
