UPDF Soldier Dies in Motorcycle Accident on Kisoro-Chanika Road

A Ugandan People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) officer, Warrant Officer Kamugisha Ramazan (Ra/059053), tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident.

The 49-year-old soldier, stationed at the Nyakabande 35 Battalion barracks in Kisoro district, was returning from Kisoro town on his motorcycle (UEJ 271X TVS) on Thursday evening  at around 8:30 pm.




According to reports, Kamugisha lost control while navigating a corner near Busamba village. The resulting fall caused him to sustain head and chest injuries.




A Good Samaritan rushed him to Kisoro Hospital, but due to the severity of his injuries, he was transferred to Mutolere Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.




The Kigezi Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed the incident. Police officers visited the accident scene, documented the details, and conducted a post-mortem examination on the deceased at Mutolere Hospital.

Kamugisha’s motorcycle is currently impounded at Kisoro Central Police Station for inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV). The incident is registered as a single fatal road accident under TAR 33/2024, and investigations are ongoing.
