Gulu, Uganda – The Deputy RDC of Gulu, Mr. Okidi James Cosmas, launched door-to-door mobilization for the census in all sub-counties of Gulu district on May 8th, 2024.
“Community members are asking questions, and I am glad we are on the ground to provide answers,” said Okidi, adding that community members are the ones who make Uganda great. “Among our activities is relaying the President’s voice on the Census,” Deputy RDC Cosmas added.
While concluding the training of both supervisors and enumerators, he said they conducted a swearing-in ceremony for all team members and cautioned them against falsification of data, arrogance, inappropriate dressing, and misconduct, which could lead to disciplinary measures and arrest,” added Cosmas James Okidi, Deputy RDC.
The gadgets provided, such as power banks and other machines, must be properly kept and used for their intended purpose instead of for personal business.
“We also want to appeal and direct all foot soldiers such as LC1, GISO, and sub-county leadership to carry out door-to-door campaigns.”
“In our launch of door-to-door mobilizations, we encountered many vital questions from community members. Some asked about taxation, lack of drugs in health centers and hospitals, school enrollment, etc., questioning whether the census would address these issues. They were very satisfied and happy with our responses to their questions, pledging to mobilize others to be counted.”
“Census helps the government plan and budget for the well-being of citizens. It matters to be counted. The office of the Resident District Commissioner and security agencies in Gulu District are fully prepared and equipped to ensure a successful census enumeration,” assured Deputy RDC Cosmas James Okidi to the congregation.
