Lira City West Division MP, Hon. Vincent Shedrick Obong Eyit, has refuted social media reports blackmailing him on specific media outlets and tabloids as baseless. He stated that several negative reports about him have been circulated by a few unnamed individuals, describing him (MP Shedrick) as a non-performer in the 11th Parliament. He added that these are total lies purported by some of his opponents who are seeking political opportunities.
MP Obong, who shared his performance ranking as number 148 out of over 500 MPs, added that he is not shaken by such publications, quoting Jeremiah 29:11.
“Imagine I was ranked nationally through the performance compiled by the Parliament of the Republic of Uganda, published by The New Vision on September 2, 2023, and edited by the yellow brigade for social media use.”
He dismissed misconceptions about a social media post criticizing him and said he has chosen to keep quiet simply because most of the posts are politically planted propaganda within some camps he didn’t name, who do not support his political ambitions and contributions.
Hon. Vincent Shedrick Obong said people who want to know how he performed in parliament should go to the committees he subscribes to in parliament and can even ask the voters in his constituency, but not to rely on some doctored posts by some funded propagandists.
He addressed the media in an exclusive interview on Tuesday morning about his take on the matter.
Meanwhile, Obong has assured people in his constituency to remain calm because there are over 500 Members of Parliament in the 11th Parliament and being among the top 148 is significant compared to being number 400 or 500 as per the current circulating list.
He has stated that his supporters and non-supporters should disregard the social media insults and humiliation by a few individuals who are funded to disorganize his contributions, which he has chosen to ignore by keeping quiet.
Obong Eyit’s school emerged as the best in UCE 2023 in Lira City as a whole. He has distributed maize seeds to catechists and other sections of believers in Lira City in 2023 and promised to do more.
MP Obong is under the UPC party ticket, a close friend to MP Jimmy Michael Akena Obote, the party president of UPC, and is forming a strong team for a political comeback in the 2026 general election to contest and hopefully win.
