The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has announced the commencement of a comprehensive nationwide mobilization campaign. The primary objectives of this initiative include building trust in the FDC among citizens, spreading crucial information regarding issues affecting the party, fostering a positive public perception of the party, recruiting new members, conducting membership registrations, educating citizens about government shortcomings, supporting potential candidates, and addressing unresolved matters in selected districts.

The Party President acknowledged previous criticisms of the Working Committee’s perceived inaction but assured members that strategic planning was behind the delay in field engagements. Emphasizing the importance of effective leadership, the President urged members to take charge as the campaign moves forward.
Following the initial round of activities, the program will expand to cover additional sub-regions. The FDC, known for its resilience in the face of challenges, has labeled this campaign “Tusobala” in Luganda, “Tutaweza” in Kiswahili, “Kipedori” in Ateso, “Watwero” in Luo, “Tukisoboka” in Runyakitara, and “Ama ecoora” in Lugbara.
The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) extended its message to various stakeholders, including members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), Members of Parliament, local government leaders, party members and supporters, as well as the wider audience tuning in through various media platforms.
Acknowledging the challenges faced during the past three years, characterized by attacks, false allegations, internal strife, and media onslaughts, the FDC reiterated its commitment to defending the party constitution against all odds. Party president Amuriat claimed internal conflicts were decisively resolved through the election of new office bearers during the 7th National Delegates Conference (NDC) on October 6th, 2023, demonstrating the party’s determination to maintain internal stability and integrity.
The address highlighted the failures of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) in addressing key issues affecting Uganda, including rampant poverty, widespread corruption, and escalating unemployment rates, especially among the youth. The exploitation of rural communities and human rights abuses were also underscored as pressing concerns.
Expressing concern over the political climate and the lack of preparation for a smooth transition of power, the FDC urged President Museveni to consider the legacy he intends to leave behind and prioritize the stability of the nation. The party confirmed its participation in the upcoming general elections and emphasized the importance of electoral reforms to ensure fairness and credibility in the electoral process.
Addressing internal discord within the opposition, the FDC asserted its commitment to unity and progress, urging sister parties to take a proactive stance in holding the ruling regime accountable for electoral injustices. The party reaffirmed its resolve to pursue constitutional avenues to achieve a better Uganda, calling on all citizens to defend the national constitution.
