The police in Kamuli are on the lookout for a woman who decided to take drastic measures in her marital dispute by cutting off her husband’s genitals and disappearing with an unknown amount of cash.
Moses Kawubanya, 45, a well-known educationist and director of Serena Children’s Home, had quite the wake-up call on Monday, June 10. Residing in Busana zone, Nabirumba ward, Nabwigulu sub-county in Kamuli district, his morning started off normally enough but quickly turned into a nightmare.
The police, led by Busoga North spokesperson Michael Kasadha, have registered a case of attempted murder against Susan Namuganza, 34, who is now on the run. The incident reportedly took place at around 3:00 am at the couple’s home in Busana.
Kasadha’s statement paints a bizarre and harrowing picture. According to the account, Kawubanya had woken up early to bathe and, after finishing, returned to bed with a towel wrapped around his waist. All seemed well until their three-month-old baby began to cry. Namuganza, ever the dutiful mother, got up, presumably to tend to the child. But instead of returning with a bottle, she came back with a knife.
In a shocking and unexpected move, she attacked Kawubanya, cutting off his penis. If that wasn’t enough, she also took off with an unspecified amount of money, adding theft to her list of offenses.
Despite the severe pain and trauma, Kawubanya managed to run to a neighbor for help. He was then rushed to Kamuli General Hospital for urgent medical treatment before reporting the incident at Kamuli Central Police Station.
Kasadha assured the public that the police are conducting further investigations to understand the full circumstances of this grisly act while continuing their search for Namuganza.
