Okidi Patrick, Obongi – Top leaders in Obongi district have expressed their satisfaction with the ongoing rehabilitation of the Orinya-Kali road, funded at a cost of 1.3 billion UGX. The 10 km road is being rehabilitated under the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development Additional Funding (USMID-AF).
The road, which had been in a deplorable condition, is being rehabilitated by Pegosa Engineering and Company Ltd of Yumbe. The overseeing committee is chaired by the Woman MP of Obongi district, Hon. Maneno Zumura, and includes area MP Dr. Bokha Didi George, District Chairperson Haji Abib Buga Khemis, CAO Otim Benson Humphrey, RDC Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, Secretary for Works Hon. Azubu Michael, Secretary Elizabeth Amen, and sub-county officials.
In his message to The Ankole Times newspaper, RDC Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka applauded the leadership of Obongi district, particularly the offices of the Woman MP, the area MP, CAO, LCV, among others, for uniting to develop Obongi district.
Hon. MP Zumura urged the contractor handling the road rehabilitation to employ a significant number of local residents so that the indigenous people feel included in the program.
The district leaders were monitoring and supervising the road rehabilitation projects in Obongi district on Tuesday.
