The Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, will receive a global award for putting Uganda on the map in the fight against COVID-19. It is a source of great pride in Lango sub-region, Uganda, and Africa as a whole that Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero is being recognized globally for her efforts in the fight against COVID-19. She will receive the global award on behalf of Uganda.
Uganda was ranked among the top countries globally in the fight against the coronavirus. Mechanisms and standard operating procedures (SOPs) put in place by the Ugandan government under the guidance of the Ministry of Health significantly contributed to reducing the death rate monitored closely by Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, thus reducing the toll caused by COVID-19 infections.
His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health Dr. Diana Atwine, and Professor Ogwang, the founder of the Covidex Vaccine, are among other dignitaries to receive the global award.
Leo Aguda, a resident of Lira City, commended Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero as a committed and dedicated leader who has made significant contributions to the health sector over the years, recognized by numerous organizations including the WHO.
Meanwhile, 48-year-old Adongo Sarah from Omodo Market in Lira City West Division observed that Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero has a commendable record in leadership and health service delivery, which will go down in history.
