The Office of the RDC Obongi has commissioned an agricultural project worth over 500 million shillings for veterans in Obongi District. RDC Obongi Samuel Hashaka Mpimbaza, ARDC Umuhoza Habiba Furaha, and Town Clerk Makosa Saidi Sebi led the commissioning ceremony, aiming to achieve socio-economic transformation among the veterans.
The Gimara Communal Land Association has donated 100 acres of land in Obogubu village, Gimara Subcounty, Obongi District, for the implementation of the project.
Chairperson of the Veterans in Obongi, Jomo Majid, thanked RDC Obongi Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka for mobilizing them to engage in income-generating projects instead of activities like opium smoking, alcohol consumption, and thuggery. He appealed to the government for financial support, noting that the veterans are currently relying on their meager pension funds.
Jomo revealed that the newly formed veterans group comprises 240 members, including 140 women and 100 men.
RDC Obongi Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka pledged to continue guiding the veterans in alignment with President Museveni’s vision of socio-economic transformation for all Ugandans.
