The total turnover at the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE) increased by 15.17% on a week-on-week basis, reaching UGX 1.6 billion. Umeme Limited led the trading activity, significantly contributing to the overall turnover.
Data from Crested Capital revealed that Umeme accounted for 83.98% of the weekly turnover, amounting to UGX 1.3 billion. Following Umeme, MTN Uganda posted a turnover of UGX 228.9 million.
During the week, five counters experienced price changes. Bank of Baroda emerged as the leading gainer, with its share price rising by 2.56% to UGX 20. In contrast, Airtel Uganda led the losers, with its share price falling by 5.41% to UGX 70.
Airtel Uganda recorded a turnover of UGX 19.8 million, while Stanbic exchanged UGX 10.2 million. Bank of Baroda (BOBU) dealt UGX 5.9 million. NIC Holdings Limited (NIC), Quality Chemical Industries Limited (QCIL), dfcu Limited (DFCU), and New Vision Printing & Publishing Company (NVL) collectively exchanged a turnover of about UGX 250,000.
On the cross-listings, East African Breweries Limited saw an increase of 1.44% in its share price. However, other cross-listed companies experienced declines: Equity Group Holdings Limited lost 2.84%, Jubilee Holdings Limited shed 2.67%, Centum Investments fell by 3.28%, KCB Group decreased by 8.35%, and Nation Media Group dropped by 11.86%.
The USE All Share Index (ALSI) closed 2.38% lower at 1,028.93 points, while the C11 Index declined by 1.62% to 94.05 points.
