Katakwi, Uganda – In an exclusive interview at his office this evening, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Rtrd. Maj. Godfrey Even Katamba announced that Vice President H.E. Rtrd. Maj. Jessica Alupo Rose Epel will commission over 2000 patriots in Katakwi District on Saturday, July 6, 2024.
According to Katamba, the event will take place at the Boma grounds in Katakwi Town Council, Katakwi District.
Katamba stated that patriotism is a vital aspect of the NRM government, and every Ugandan is expected to demonstrate their love for the country through various means, including fighting corruption, supporting service delivery, and promoting security.
He emphasized that integrity is essential among community members.
The RDC invited all residents of Katakwi to attend the commissioning ceremony in large numbers to witness the recognition of individuals who have demonstrated their love for the nation.
James Engole, Headteacher of St. Stephen Secondary School Katakwi and President of the Association of Headteachers of Secondary Schools of Uganda, sees this event as an opportunity for the new generation to learn how to serve their country while still in school.
He noted that the new secondary school curriculum includes patriotism, and students have quickly embraced this activity, requiring continuous mentorship.
RDC Katamba acknowledged that this initiative is part of the mindset-changing programs introduced by H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, aimed at inspiring patriotism and national service.
