Yesterday morning on Voice of Lango FM, Kioga County MP Bitek was criticized for his lack of legal knowledge during a heated discussion hosted by Sam Brunus Aliga.

The discussion, which involved two prominent politicians from Amolatar, centered on an ongoing police investigation into the misuse of public funds, corruption, and abuse of office. The district CAO, internal auditor, District Engineer, and most recently the CFO have all provided statements as part of the investigation.

Felix Adupa Ongwech, an anti-corruption activist and former Kioga County MP candidate in the 2021 election, presented substantial evidence live on air challenging MP Bitek. In contrast, Bitek made unsupported claims that no money was lost in the district. Bitek’s defense of the accused district officials left many questioning his understanding of his oversight role as a member of Parliament. His arguments were criticized as shallow, and he resorted to personal attacks against Adupa, who remained composed and focused on the issues.

The Amolatar district local government has been under scrutiny for two weeks following Adupa’s exposure of corruption in the works department, particularly regarding the poor condition of district roads despite government funding. Callers from the Amolatar community confirmed the poor road network and suspected mismanagement of funds by district officials. They praised Adupa for his bold stance against corruption and called on the president to address the corrupt leadership in the district.

There is hope for a thorough investigation as the State House Anti-Corruption Unit has expressed interest in supporting the police in Amolatar.
