Katikamu SDA Staff, Students Injured in Road Accident

The head teacher of Katikamu Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Senior Secondary School in Luwero District, Dayo Paul, along with his wife and children, have been seriously injured in a road accident at Nalongo village, approximately 70 kilometers into Luwero District along the Kampala-Gulu highway.

The incident occurred when an Isuzu Fuso truck, Registration Number UBM 261T, driven by Bukumazi Shamadi, a resident of Matuga in Wakiso District, collided with a school van marked Katikamu SDA Senior Secondary School.




The truck also collided with a Toyota Hiace van, Number UBF 378U, driven by Sebiyonga Steven, a resident of Katikamu in Luwero District, traveling from Luwero towards Gulu.




Sam Twiineamazima, the Savannah Regional Police spokesperson, confirmed the accident, stating it occurred this morning. He identified the victims as Sebiyonga Steven, Dayo Paul, Talemwa Aalon (18), Kebirugyi Ruth (16), Atugonza Dina (10), Agenoroth Deborah (12), Asobora Hildah (5), Atuhura Rachel (1), and Night Docus (42).




All victims have been rushed to Luwero Hospital for medical treatment. The wreckages of the vehicles involved have been towed to Luwero Central Police Station (CPS) pending inspection by the Inspectorate of Vehicles (IOV).

Twiineamazima added that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.

In a post on Katikamu SDA Secondary School’s Facebook page, the school reported that most of the children are in stable condition, except Dinah Atugonza, who sustained major injuries and has been referred to Kampala for further medical attention.
