Josyline Chemutai, Bukwo District – In response to widespread misuse of Parish Development Model (PDM) funds across the country, Bukwo Resident District Commissioner Mrs. Modesta Ajilong has launched community accountability meetings involving district officials and local beneficiaries.
These barazas, initiated last week throughout the district, have led to the arrest of some district officials and the recovery of stolen project funds.
Speaking to this publication, Ms. Ajilong emphasized that the PDM, a presidential initiative, must reach its intended beneficiaries. “This project was initiated by the president with the aim of improving the living standards of Ugandans. We must ensure that it reaches the local people,” she stated.
She vowed to take action against anyone attempting to divert government projects designed to improve the welfare of Ugandans in Bukwo district.
In addition to the PDM, Mrs. Ajilong has also pushed for the completion of various government projects that have been stalled for years despite the allocation of funds. She named Amanang Health Center, Kwiriot Health Center, Tulel Health Center, and Aralam Health Center as examples of these projects.
She announced that twin staff houses have already been commissioned at all of these listed health centers.
