MIU to Continue Scholarships in Honor of Late Minister Sarah Mateke

The Metropolitan International University  (MIU) community has urged mourners to honor the legacy of the late Sarah Nyirabashitsi Mateke by continuing to provide scholarships and bursaries to students.

Sarah Nyirabashitsi Mateke, who passed away on Saturday morning due to a heart attack, was the State Minister of Defense and Veteran Affairs and the Woman Member of Parliament for Kisoro District.

She was also a founding member and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees at Metropolitan International University, where she played a key role in sponsoring and providing bursaries to students, many of whom were concerned about continuing their studies.

Rev. Herbert Mujabwami, a co-founder and Chairperson of the Board of Council, assured the public that all students benefiting from Sarah Nyirabashitsi Mateke’s bursary scheme will be supported until their graduation. He emphasized the importance of embracing the legacy of the late minister.

The Vice Chancellor of Metropolitan International University, Dr. Arinaitwe Julius, revealed that Minister Sarah Nyirabashitsi Mateke will be remembered for her remarkable contributions and financial support towards the university’s daily operations.

Dr. Arinaitwe added that the university currently enrolls over 10,000 students, with more than 50% benefiting from the bursary scheme established by Minister Sarah Nyirabashitsi Mateke.
