KOLE, Uganda – There was jubilation and excitement in Kole district on Friday as churches and primary schools received a total of 380 iron sheets.
Christians at several churches and schools in Aboke Archdeaconry were overjoyed on Friday, October 18, 2024, after receiving 380 iron sheets through the lobbying efforts of their MP, Dr. Samuel Opio Acuti.
The iron sheets were delivered to Kole district by the Minister of State for Northern Uganda under the Office of the Prime Minister. Mr. Opio Okaci, the head of construction at Zion Church of Uganda, thanked the MP for connecting them with the Minister’s office. “We would not have received these 125 iron sheets if it weren’t for his efforts. I thank the Minister, the Prime Minister, and the President.”
Five churches benefitted from the iron sheets: Zion Church of Uganda, Aromo Yecu, St. Andrew Kony Ogoro, St. Luke Opeta Headquarters, and St. Mary’s Amuku Rwot. Two schools, Wigua Primary School and Apedi Primary School, also received iron sheets.
Places of worship whose construction has already reached the ring beam stage expect to use the iron sheets to roof their churches and reverend’s houses. The schools plan to use the iron sheets for their staff houses and classroom blocks.
This is the third time the Kole North MP has lobbied for iron sheets for his constituents. Previous iron sheets were distributed in Alito and Okwerodot.
A woman identified as Jane April, a 45-year-old parent of Apedi Primary School, told this publication that several achievements have been realized during the leadership of Hon. Samuel Opio Acuti during his tenure as an MP.
