NRM Chairperson Urges Aspirants to Focus on Socio-Economic Issues Ahead of Kisoro By-Election

The Chairperson of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party Electoral Commission Dr. Tanga Odoi has warned NRM aspirants and Kisoro religious leaders to Shan politics of identity and join politics of social economic transformation.

This  call comes as the party is set to elect its flag bearer ahead of the by-election slated on 25th October 2024 to replace the former Minister Sarah Nyirabashitsi Mateke who died on 7th September 2024.

Tanga Odoi warned different religious leaders in Kisoro district for being involved in politics based in religions and ethnicity which may affect the ongoing by elections.




Odoi furry reaveled that a section of the aspirants are  flocking to churches and mosques, not necessarily for divine guidance but to secure endorsements from influential church and Islamic leaders.




Tanga Odoi note, ” we are not voting for a Bishop, we are not voting for a district card, we are not voting for a Reverand father, we are voting for NRM flag bearer Kisoro district, I Shan religion leaders who are in politics of religion, you be in politics of social economic transformation, I have a right of disqualifying any candidate Incase of any indiscipline act”.




Similarly Tanga Odoi urged the votes to keep discipline and time on the election as a better of conducting free and fair elections.

“Tango Odoi is not having any candidate in the ongoing by elections, President Museveni is not having any candidate in the ongoing by elections, your votes will be fair and free elections “, Tango Odoi noted.

He reaveled that security will be alert to those who are prepared of causing chaos on the elections scheduled on Friday.
