Eliab Naturinda Mporera, the aspiring Member of Parliament for Ndorwa West, has strongly condemned Kabale Resident District Commissioner Godfrey Nyakahuma for suspending Pre-PLE exams in the constituency.
Naturinda expressed his disappointment at a thanksgiving event for Natasha Nyonyozi, held at St. John’s Kamuganguzi Church of Uganda Archdeaconry.
The controversy began when RDC Nyakahuma ordered Gombolora Internal Security Officers to halt the Pre-PLE exams sponsored by Naturinda for over 70 primary schools across eight sub-counties in Ndorwa West.
Headteachers reported receiving a directive to cancel the exams, but by that time, students had already completed the Mathematics exam earlier in the day.
Naturinda criticized RDC Nyakahuma’s decision, calling it harmful to students’ educational progress.
He emphasized the importance of respecting children’s education for the country’s future and expressed disappointment in seeing educated leaders obstructing students’ learning. Naturinda described this action as an expression of jealousy toward the younger generation and suggested that it was politically motivated.
He urged local authorities to act as pillars of education, mentoring young learners.
