Robert Kabushenga, the former Executive Director of Vision Group, has urged for public hearings regarding the Coffee Bill, particularly in areas where coffee is grown in Uganda.

He is a respected leader and seasoned farmer who believes it is vital to engage the public on issues that significantly impact farmers across the nation.

He pointed out that past controversial legislation has utilized similar public consultation methods. In those cases, Members of Parliament received additional funding to connect with their constituents. “If we can afford regional sittings for Parliament, then it’s crucial to prioritize public input on this issue,” Kabushenga stated.

While leading Vision Group, Kabushenga championed initiatives aimed at supporting farmers in enhancing their productivity and income, demonstrating his commitment to Uganda’s agricultural sector.

As a prominent figure in the farming community, he advocates for transparent discussions surrounding the Coffee Bill as the most constructive approach. He cautioned, “Bad-tempered political exchanges will get us nowhere,” emphasizing the need for calm and progressive dialogue.

Kabushenga’s dedication underscores his unwavering support for farmers and his belief that agriculture is key to Uganda’s development.
