Uganda Technical College (UTC)-Lira is gearing up for its 5th Talent Search event, scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024. This event aims to promote health awareness and showcase the skills of young people in Northern Uganda.
The theme for this year’s event is “Empowering the Youth for a Better Tomorrow through Talent Search.” UTC Guild Speaker Mr. Odongo Aaron, Guild President Jennifer Draciru, and members of the organizing committee announced the event at a press briefing held at the UTC-Lira campus.
Major sponsors of the event include City Sounds, QFM 94.3 Radio, and the Rotary Club. The event will be held in the UTC-Lira Main Hall, with robust security measures in place to ensure a peaceful environment.
Approximately 2,000-3,000 participants are expected to attend the popular event. Invited institutions include Victoria School of Nursing, Uganda Christian Institute (UCI), King James School of Nursing, Good Samaritan School of Nursing, Jerusalem Institute of Health Sciences, Lira University, and Uganda Martyrs University.
The event will feature a variety of competitions, including a healthy eating challenge, DJing, rapping, modeling, and debating. Each institution will be represented by two or three participants in each category.
The organizers are committed to encouraging participation from all individuals, including people with disabilities. The event will also promote a healthy lifestyle among young people, aligning with the competition’s core principles.
City Sounds, QFM 94.3, and the Rotary Club have partnered with the guild government to make the event a memorable celebration of youth talent and creativity. To ensure a focused and safe environment, attendance will be limited to students.
Mr. Okello Ken of Q FM, in collaboration with UTC-Lira’s Talent Search, will celebrate the skills and creativity of young people, inspiring them to become empowered and health-conscious leaders for the future.
